Types of Scholarships

1. Provost’s Assistantship and Dean’s Scholarship Opportunities

A limited number of Provost’s Assistantships and Dean’s Scholarships are available to various academic departments within each College at the University of New Haven. To be considered for a Provost’s Assistantship or a Dean’s Scholarship, all full-time domestic and international master’s students must submit their whole application packet for admission by the cutoff date.

2. Provost’s Assistantship

This highly competitive program provides two types of job opportunities for new full-time domestic and international master’s students enrolling at the University of New Haven. Our most talented incoming graduate students are eligible for a Provost’s Assistantship. Students accepted into this program will work up to 15-20 hours per week for an academic department (550 total hours per academic year). Students will receive the following in exchange:

  • An opportunity for experiential study and work throughout their graduate program.
  • Tuition support of 75%
  • An hourly salary

Types of Provost’s Assistantships

Research Assistantship

Students will participate in research directed by academic members, either on their own or for an administrative office related to their field of study.

Teaching Assistantship

Among the responsibilities are grading papers, arranging and directing experiments, and coaching undergraduate students. Duties will vary according to the department.

Students must meet the following dates in order for their whole application packet to be considered for a Provost’s Assistantship. For the Fall semester, the Priority One due is March 1, and the Priority Two deadline is April 1. For the Spring semester, the Priority One due is October 1, and the Priority Two deadline is November 1.

3. Dean’s Scholarship Program

After a thorough review of their application papers, the Dean’s University of New Haven Scholarships are offered to full-time domestic and international master’s students who have exhibited academic achievement. When they enroll at the University of New Haven, they will receive up to 50% tuition assistance.

Students must meet the following dates in order for their whole application packet to be considered for a Dean’s Scholarship. For the Fall semester, the Priority One due is March 30, and the Priority Two deadline is May 1. For the Spring semester, the Priority One due is October 15; the Priority Two deadline is November 15. Dean’s Scholarships may still be awarded if funds remain available after these dates.
